The Environmental Research & Education Foundation (EREF) announced a project that aims to aggregate needed data related to direct measurement of landfill emissions, in partnership with Florida State University. Dr. Tarek Abichou, PhD, PE, FAMU-FSU College of Engineering
Most people think about trash for 30 seconds a week — the amount of time it takes them to bring their garbage bin to the curb.
Dr. Tarek Abichou has spent three decades focused on it.
Dr. Tarek Abichou is a professor at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and one of RIDER’s Executive Directors. He is known as the “The Garbage Guy” for his expertise in landfills and is the founder of MERI. For decades Abichou and his colleagues have been producing research that tells a story about greenhouse gases that includes both bad and good news.
“Resiliency is not one size fits all,” said Tarek Abichou, a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering and one of the center’s executive directors.
